Terms of Service

Last updated: August 24, 2026

By using Kapnet ("the Service"), you agree to these terms. If you are using Kapnet on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

1. Service Description

Kapnet provides shared operational infrastructure for private groups, including gated chat rooms (LLobby), membership management, role and permission synchronization, perk management, moderation tooling, and shared infrastructure pool coordination. The Service is accessed via web interface, API, and bridged chat platforms.

2. Accounts & Identity

Accounts are identified by cryptographic keypairs (Nostr protocol). You are responsible for safeguarding your private key. Kapnet cannot recover accounts secured by keys you lose. You may not use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable laws.

3. Membership & Payments

Certain features require paid membership. Fees are disclosed at the time of purchase and are non-refundable except as stated in our Refund Policy. We use third-party payment processors and do not store full payment credentials.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

5. Content & Data

You retain ownership of content you share through Kapnet. You grant Kapnet the necessary license to store, transmit, and display that content as part of operating the Service. You may export your data at any time. Kapnet does not mine, sell, or train on your data.

6. Moderation & Sanctions

Room stewards set their own moderation policies. Kapnet provides tooling (moderation queues, appeals, audit logs) but does not dictate content policy for individual rooms. In v0, all serious sanctions (bans, role revocations) require human approval — no autonomous enforcement. Kapnet reserves the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.

7. Limitation of Liability

Kapnet is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kapnet shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. The shared infrastructure pool is operated on a best-effort basis; availability depends on contributing members.

8. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time. Kapnet may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these terms. Upon termination, you may export your data within a reasonable period; after that, data may be permanently deleted.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced via Kapnet room announcements. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
